The 2025 Chinese Grand Prix will remain a frustrating episode for Pierre Gasly and the Alpine team. Despite his best efforts, the French driver saw his race compromised by unfavorable circumstances and a post-race disqualification.
Qualifying and race: promises unfulfilled
In sprint qualifying, Gasly failed to pass SQ1, complaining that he was hampered by three cars on his last flying lap.
In the race, Pierre crossed the finish line in 11th position, just short of the points.
Disqualification for technical non-conformity
However, after the race, the FIA disqualified Pierre because his car weighed less than the regulatory minimum of 800 kg.
Charles Leclerc was disqualified for the same reason, while Lewis Hamilton was excluded for excessive wear of the flat-bottom skid .
